Hype or Not? Episode 3: Artificial Intelligence

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence has taken the consumer world by storm. But should this technology, in which machines mimic human intelligence to perform tasks, be applied to wealth management? Some tech companies have started to work on applications for the advisor space. And Tim Welsh, Nexus Strategy president and CEO, believes AI will be the next big thing in wealthtech. Senior Tech Editor Davis Janowski agrees that AI will be big in this industry, but he argues that the tech is still in its infancy and that there's still a lot of hype out there.

Soon you can experience a spacewalk through virtual reality

Engadget

Most of us will never be able to visit space, much less experience what it's like to do a spacewalk. Even billionaires who can afford to pay for a trip beyond the atmosphere of our planet -- or at least somewhere in that vicinity -- can only look out from their spaceships. Episodes 3 and 4 of the immersive series Space Explorers: The ISS Experience, however, will give you a way to see what it's like to float around in space. To make that happen, Felix & Paul Studios, one of the series' creators, customized a virtual reality camera and attached it to the Canadarm2 robot to capture 3D, 360-degree scenes from outside the space station. Felix & Paul's "Outer Space Camera" is a customized version of the commercially available Z-Cam V1 Pro.

'Westworld' Recap, Season 2 Episode 3: Robot, Human, and Everything in Between

WIRED

Westworld watchers, we knew this moment was coming. The second season's third episode, "Virtù e Fortuna," opens not in Westworld but in an India-themed park. Where Westworld is an emblem of the colonization of Native American land, this park represents Britain's takeover of the subcontinent, and the racial-social hierarchy is clearly encoded: Women in saris and men in turbans--the hosts--walk amidst people dressed in turn-of-the-20th-century British garb. A white man, Nicholas (Neil Jackson), approaches a woman seated at a lawn table and flirts with her. But she's a seasoned guest, and she's done having flings with hosts--she wants to know that he's a real human with real desire, not a fleshbot programmed to seduce her. She announces that she'll have to shoot him to know for sure.

'Half Life' writer reveals what could've been Episode 3

Engadget

Nearly ten years after the debut of Half-Life 2: Episode Two, the world is still waiting for Valve to deliver the final episode in the trilogy, but we may have to settle for something else. Just a few months after the last of the game's writers left Valve, and 21 years to the day since the company started, lead writer Marc Laidlaw has posted "Epistle 3" to his personal website (it's overloaded and inaccessible now, but you can view it on Archive.org). I guess fanfic is popular, even a genderswapped snapshot of a dream I had many years ago. With some light editing to change a few key names --"Gertrude Freemont, Ph.D" -- the post lays out a plotline for an Episode Three that never appeared. It's hard to say if it will give gamers any closure after all this time, but you can also check it out with the names corrected on Pastebin.

Hypothetical Half-Life 2: Episode 3 plot summary posted by ex-Valve writer Marc Laidlaw

PCWorld

Well, Half-Life 3 is finally here. Or is it Half-Life 2: Episode 3? Hard to say, but in any case, it arrived exactly as expected: A whispered surprise, traveling in the wee hours of the night by word of mouth alone. Instead, longtime Valve writer Marc Laidlaw (ex-Valve writer as of last year) seems to have posted the hypothetical plot to a never-going-to-be-made Episode 3 on his blog. It's thinly disguised as "Epistle 3," and the character names and genders have been tweaked too. This forms the basis of Laidlaw's current deflection, which is that it's "a genderswapped snapshot of a dream I had many years ago." He also refers to it as "fanfic."

'Imposters' Episode 3 Spoilers: Ezra, Richard And Jules Discover New Clue About Maddie's Whereabouts

International Business Times

Will Ezra (Rob Heaps) and Richard (Parker Young) finally find Maddie's (Inbar Lavi) true location in Season 1, episode 3 of "Imposters"? At the end of last night's episode, Ezra and Richard arrived at the address they got from the guy they asked to find Maddie using facial recognition technology. But instead of finding the con artist at the said address, the duo found yet another victim of hers: Jules (Marianne Rendón). While Ezra and Richard's facial recognition plan ultimately didn't work out, the synopsis for next week's episode reveals that the pair, along with Jules, will discover a new clue about their ex-lovers' whereabouts. That, however, doesn't guarantee that Ezra and Richard are letting Jules join their search mission.

Episode 3: An introduction into Artificial Intelligence.

#artificialintelligence

The founding father of the concept Artificial Intelligence is Alan Turing and he did believe in the development of artificial intelligence as an entity that outgrows humankind. The theoretical moment in time when artificial intelligence will have surpassed human intelligence is called Singularity and is often used by the church of AI. You have an interviewer, the'supposed' AI and another random person put in 3 separate rooms. They can communicate only via mail, fax, or chat (nothing verbal). The interviewer has a limited amount of time to ask questions at the other rooms.
